The Canadian Online Journal of Queer Studies in Education Le journal canadien pour les études queer en éducation a été créé afin d’offrir un forum pour les professeures, professionnels et activistes intéressés à discuter de sujets queer en éducation et en sciences sociales dans un context canadien. Ici, le terme «éducation» est pris au sens large, incluant tous les nouveaux d’éducation et toutes les disciplines. Le journal est dédié à supporter et disséminer les fruits de recherches et les théories qui supporte la justice sociale pour toutes personnes queer, incluant les lesbiennes, gays, bisexuelles, queer, intersexes, bi-spirituelles et transsexuelles. Ce forum encourage un examen critique du discours queer à travers toutes les disciplines et un dialogue sur l’intersection de multiples formes d’oppressions associées au genre, race, classes, abilité, religion, etc. Ce journal arbitré est associé avec l’Institut d’études pédagogiques de l’Ontario de l’Université de Toronto.

QUEER YOUTH IN EDUCATIONAL SETTINGS
Submission Deadline: June 30th, 2008
Queer youth can and should thrive in educational settings. Discussion has increased in recent years around the issues facing queer youth in schools, and strategies for creating more inclusive educational settings and experiences have been receiving more attention in research and practice. This issue seeks to add to the scholarship about queer youth and the educational experience; What is the experience of queer youth in educational settings? What needs are specific to such youth and what issues should be addressed in researching and working with queer youth throughout their educational careers? Accordingly, papers dealing with a broad variety of issues relevant to education and queer youth are encouraged. Possible issues for consideration include, but are not limited to:
- Educator experience of /approaches to working with queer students
- Queer educators and the education of queer youth
- Strategies for encouraging harmonious and inclusive classroom environments
- Inclusiveness and awareness in curriculums /mainstreaming of queer youth and queer culture in educational settings
- Teacher training and queer issues
- Strategies for education about and prevention of bullying
- Determinants of/issues around health and queer youth
- Reaching out from the classroom to the community
- Working with parents and families of queer students
- Culturally queer: Youth with queer parents in educational settings
Academic articles, essays and book reviews are invited for submission. Articles should be between 4000 and 6500 words (approximately 15-25 pages), and essays and book reviews should be no more than 2500 words (approximately 10 pages).
All submissions must be formatted according to the standards set forth by the American Psychological Association (APA). For APA style rules and guidlines, please refer to The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th Edition, or go to http://apastyle.apa.org/. The submission preparation checklist provides authors with instructions for the preparatin of their manuscripts. Falure to comply with these instructions will result in manuscripts being returned for correct preparation.
