Debbie Epstein is a professor in the School of Social Sciences, Cardiff University (Wales) and also practices as a psychotherapist. Her books include Geographies of Knowledge, Geometries of Power: Facing the Future of Higher Education (with Rebecca Boden, Rosemary Deem, Fazal Rizvi and Susan Wright), Toward Equality: Gender and Sexuality in South African Schools During the HIV and AIDS Epidemic (with Robert Morrell, Elaine Unterhalter, Deevia Bhana and Relebohile Moletsane), Silenced Sexualities in Schools and Universities (with Sarah O’Flynn and David Telford), and Schooling Sexualities (with Richard Johnson). She is also the co-author of a six volume set entitled The Academic’s Support Kit, which constitutes a ‘mentor in a box’ for doctoral students, early career academics and their mentors.

Deborah Lynn Steinberg is a professor of gender, culture and media studies in the Department of Sociology, University of Warwick (UK) and an Associate Lecturer at the Open University (UK). Her books include: Bodies in Glass: Genetics, Eugenics, Embryo Ethics; Mourning Diana: Nation, Culture and the Performance of Grief (with Adrian Kear) and Blairism and the War of Persuasion: Labour’s Passive Revolution (with Richard Johnson). She is currently producing a monograph: The Gene Between Biology and Culture.
